There has always been a craze among youngsters to go for hairstyle changes all the time, according to the trend. This change in the hairstyle requires a thick oily layer of dressing called the pomade. A pomade is used for the straightening of curly hair as well as for giving the new shape to hair. Some pomades are home-made, while they are also available in the market.
Now this pomade causes acne , not only on the scalp, but also on the forehead and temple since that is the area of pomade contact. Pomade generally causes comedones, with occasional pustules and papules. Most of these pomades are comedogenic or pore clogging in nature. The dense oils used for the pomades and for hair dressing, clog the pores and thus start the formation of comedones. Apart from forming comedones, they also irritate the skin and cause allergic redness.
Now to treat this type of acne, one must try to apply the pomade one inch behind hairline, so it does not come into contact with the forehead. In reality, pomades should never be used only.
Pomade acne generally clears if measurement is taken to keep it from contacting the skin or discontinuation of its usage
