Once acne has displayed itself on your face, it is best to treat them. During treatment, however, it is still favorable to avoid factors that can aggravate or bring more harm to your blemishes. Knowing what factors to avoid during acne breakouts will help you in lessening and reducing inflammations caused by acne.
Food:
It is said that certain foods can trigger acne breakouts. Not really true. But there are certainly some that can worsen and aggravate your already existing acne. Oily foods and those rich in iodine, perhaps, as some would say. But it really is on a case-to-case basis. A person eating chocolate may aggravate his acne; another person suffering from the same affliction may not. So, it is best to observe what kind of foods you eat during acne breakouts so you can isolate the faulty food and avoid them the next time.
Stress:
Being stressed when you already have acne can do a lot to worsen your unsightly blemishes. It is said that during stress, your hormones are fluctuating more than the usual, so during acne breakouts, more hormonal imbalances produce more inflammation and irritation. So it is best to just relax and try not to let the stress get to you.
Cosmetics:
Wearing make-ups or cosmetics can clog up your pores, and irritate your acne, if you already have it. Since wearing make-up, for some, cannot be avoided, it is best to wear non-comedogenic, and oil-free cosmetics. These are kinds of cosmetics that won’t clog up your pores.

Whiteheads - what are they?
Whiteheads are similar to blackheads, both called comedones. While blackheads are known as open comedones, whiteheads are known as closed comedones. These are small, white bumps on the surface of the skin. They form when the skin’s pore is blocked completely, trapping the bacteria, oil, and dead skin cells under the surface. They are yellowish in color and stay well beneath the skin’s surface.
How to Get Rid of Them
There are many procedures that can be done to get rid of these blemishes. Proper facial care is the most important of them all. Cleanse your face regularly using mild facial wash and exfoliate twice a week to remove dead skin cells on the skin’s surface. The cleanse-tone-exfoliate-moisturize routine is the standard rule by which most women abide by. However, there are many products that can help in minimizing whitehead appearance on your face. These include topical over-counter skin products containing AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) and Benzoyl Peroxide, which can help in clearing away dead skin cells and in unclogging pores to eliminate whiteheads.
Tips to Consider
Drink lots of water.
Do not pop that whitehead! It will only lead to more infection and skin damage.
There are also lots of information on the Internet on how to go about ridding oneself of whiteheads and the likes. Herbal remedies and the likes found in your kitchen helps a great deal and are much cheaper too.

Stress is one of the factors considered as a precursor of acne, while some people disagree with it, saying that stress only worsens acne but does not actually cause this skin disease. But what’s important here is that we should know that adding stress and acne together is not a good idea.
During stress, our levels of stress hormones increase, causing hormonal imbalance and inevitable worsening of acne breakouts. This is usual in adult men and women. Controlling stress is generally a good suggestion. So if you’re one of those regularly stressed women, or men, it is normally a good idea to learn and recognize the early periods of a stress attack, so you can take action to avoid these attacks.

Simple Relaxation Techniques. Simple relaxation techniques like deep breathing and stretching can do a lot to calm your stressed nerves.
Meditation. An all-good exercise to pacify and bring tranquility and balance to your nerves.
Time Outs. Try to allow some time for yourself several times a day. Take a few minutes off from work; a ten to fifteen minute break several times during working hours can go a long way to help you relax.

There are many myths and misconceptions about acne that can mislead a lot of people. Some of these are oldwives tale, some dating back to as far as centuries ago. But all of them are just that, myths and tales that bear no truth.
One particular myth is that acne is caused by poor cleaning habits. Though it’s true that not washing your face can cause irritation, frequent washing however, can cause more harm to your skin. It can strip your skin of needed oils and moisture, making it dry and prone to pimples and blemishes. So don’t be overzealous in cleaning your face, but don’t be neglectful too! It’s important that you clean your face but do it in a moderate way.
Another common myth about acne is that popping your pimples will make it go away faster. You want to know the real truth? Popping it will in a way make it seem less noticeable, but it can actually cause more irritation, as the bacteria will dig deeper into your skin and cause inflammation and even scarring. So you’re better off with not popping that acne if you don’t want ugly scars to mar your face.
A few more myths include: stress, greasy foods, even sex and masturbation, can cause acne and blemishes. All of these are untrue. There has never been any proof that these factors contribute to the production of acne. Stress and greasy foods aren’t causes of acne, but they can easily be factors that can worsen your pimples during breakouts and flare-ups.
There are many more misconceptions out there. The only key to proving those myths wrong is research, research, and more research! Only then will you prove what’s true from what’s not.

Some people say that certain foods don’t mix well with acne during breakouts. Foods like chocolates and those rich in fatty oils and iodine, for example. While some of them don’t actually cause acne breakouts, they do cause skin aggravation. So avoiding what kinds of food to eat while you have these blemishes is a good way to help in improving your skin.
What Not To Eat
Carbs and Sugar. Refined carbohydrates and sugar causes insulin, which means increase in hormonal activities, and can then lead to the production of more sebum, leading to acne.
Too much fruit. Too much fruit can upset the acidity and PH balance of our skin.
Dairy. Eat with caution as they can aggravate or worsen your acne during flare-ups.
Caffeine and Alcohol. Caffeine and alcohol are generally not good for the body if taken in excess. They can dehydrate your skin making it dry and prone to acne.
Fatty Foods. Foods rich in oil and fat can affect acne. These make it hard for our digestive system to breakdown, which can lead to clogged pores and excess oil on the surface of our skin.
What To Eat
Vegetables rich in beta-carotene, whole grains, low-fat proteins, fruits low in citrus, and those that can be eaten fresh are generally helpful in reducing acne. Taking vitamins and minerals help too, for excellent skin health. Vitamins such as A, C and E are good anti-oxidants and brings great benefits to our skin. Cystic Acne is the most severe form of acne characterized by hard, inflamed bumps containing pus-like substance that develops into cysts. It is considered as the harshest and most painful form of acne
It is not a common type of acne, though there are still many that suffer from it. Like other types of acne, it is caused by excess buildup of oil and sebum in the glands, therefore clogging the skin’s pores. This is the type of acne that generally leaves permanent scars on your skin.
How to Treat Cystic Acne
Cystic acne can be treated just like any other form of acne. Over the counter medications and topical creams can do the trick in most cases. Peeling and oral medications are also advisable, however, be sure to consult a dermatologist before trying out any of these products. The only thing to watch out for is scarring and even so, there are many varieties of ways to help remove them.
Tips
The most important advice in reducing a case of cystic acne is not to be tempted to prick those pimples. Popping these blemishes will release the liquid inside the bump, causing it to spread to the surrounding area, which will then lead to infection and a probable case of another round of acne to flare.

How to Remove Them
What are blackheads?

Well, blackheads are a type of acne called comedones and are characterized by blackish or yellowish bumps on the skin. They are typically present and can be seen in the t-zone area of the face especially around the nose and chin areas.
What causes blackheads?
Blackheads are caused mainly by excessive oil produced and accumulated in the skin’s sebaceous glands. Use of make-ups can also cause these blemishes because these ingredients in the make-up can actually block your skin’s pores.
How to get rid of them?
Blackheads are the most stubborn kind of acne to deal with because, like it or not, they will typically come back in a week or two. The only sure way to minimize and make them seem less noticeable is a good facial cleaning routine. Be sure to clean your face regularly and exfoliate twice a week to get rid of those dead skin cells. Aside from that routine, there are also products out there you can use to get rid of those blackheads, namely: pore strips, topical products, and blackhead extractors. If push comes to shove, going to the dermatologist is the best advice I can give you. They’re the experts in these areas, so set-up an appointment with them so you can find out what’s the best way to deal with these unsightly blemishes.
